Thank you to everyone who voted on a name for Hogle Zoo's baby elephant. The winning name is Zuri, which received nearly half of the public votes submitted at Hogle Zoo and Sizzler and Red Robin restaurants.
As of Zuri's public debut last Friday, she weighed in at 306 pounds and is active and running around her yard. Zuri is quite energetic, but her mom Christie is handling that well, and both are very happy and healthy.
Here are some more pictures of Zuri taken last week at Hogle Zoo:

She is so cute! Love the name! Will we be able to see her now any time?
ReplyDeleteYes, Zuri is on exhibit to the public during regular Zoo summer hours from 9 am until 5 pm, weather permitting.
ReplyDeleteYay, she got the name that I voted for! She is so stinkin' cute I can barely stand it. Congrats to Hogle Zoo, and to Christie...job well done!
ReplyDeleteWow, my heart if full of cute! She is absolutely beautiful, and what a perfect name for her! How blessed we are to have a brand new one of these magestic creatures in our own backyard!
ReplyDeleteI wish they had picked a more original name! Pittsburg has a baby elephant just about a month older than ours and they named her Zuri!
ReplyDeletecutest thing ever!
ReplyDeleteShe is so cute! What a great name!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Daniel and I collect elephants, so I love to see Zuri at the Hogle Zoo and online. I have a big poster hanging in my room with photo's of Zuri that I love that my Nanny made for me.
